Rare Breed Footwear 57A Brighton Avenue Long Branch, NJ 07740 732-222-4430

Name: DJ Senatore Tell us a little about you and your position at the store: I’m 26 years old and I am the Co-Owner of Rare BreedFootwear along with my business partner Stephen Perri. I’ve been into sneakers since I was a little kid, and I always had the newest sneakers. Once I got into high school, I really started collecting and the love just grew from there.

What makes your store special? We try to look a little different than most stores; clean look, nothing too crazy. Most of our displays are custom made. We have a fence and a bleacher that we display clothing and shoes on. It has both the feel of a boutique and a little street feel. Also, we appreciate our customers, and we appreciate them coming in, whether its to buy something or just hang out and chop it up for a little bit.

Shoe that got you hooked: 1996 Air Jordan XI - White/Columbia. My brother just came back from the mall with my mom, and she had bought them for him. I wanted them, so she took me back to the mall that night and she bought them for me too. Those were the good ol’ days when you didn’t have to camp out for shoes.

Last pair you purchased: Chapter World x Reebok Court Victory

Favorite pair you don’t own: Original Reebok Double Pump
Amount of pairs you own: Around 375 pairs
Top 3 of all-time:
OG Alife Green Ballout
Original Reebok Pump Arsenal
White/Cement Jordan IV
Which upcoming release are you looking forward to? All the 20th Anniversary Reebok Pump collabs.
If I wasn’t a shoe store owner, I would probably be a: Miserable 9 to 5er with the dream of one day owning a store. Never give up on the dream people.
One reason why shoes matter: Shoe are everything. To me, they define a person. By looking at a person’s shoes, you can tell a lot about them and how they live. Its the first thing I notice about a person. It may not sound too good, but I judge people by their footwear.
One reason you love shoes: Plain and simple: memories. I love looking at a pair of shoes and remembering when I had them as a kid and how big of a deal it was to have the newest shoes that came out.
One thing that you dislike about the shoe game: There’s not much originality with a lot of people anymore. People don’t buy/wear what they like. They buy what everyone else thinks is hot. Be your own person. Wear what you like.
Anything else you want to tell our readers?* If you’re ever in NJ, be sure to come check us out. If you’re not, check us online at rarebreedfootwear.com. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Patta

It is safe to say a fresh design is the product every time Patta and Nike join efforts. Specifically, the Grey/Green-White, the Purple TZ and the Burgundy Patta x Nike Air Max 1colorways were all very nice to say the least.

After showing you multiple photos of their latest collaboration design (shown to the right), many of you expressed interest in this sneaker. It definitely features a wider array of textures and colors than the previous designs. Navy blue corduroy makes up most of the upper, while blue perforated suede is seen on the toe box. In addition, minimal red and green details are seen throughout the upper. Click here to find out the release date of the Patta x Nike Air Max 1Premium.

Supra skytop

Supra began their Skytop II launch campaign at Collette this past Saturday. For the moment, the Skytop II is set to release at a quantity of 600shoes (each individually numbered) or 360 pairs. The first 36 are now available at Collette. For those that aren’t in Paris, you can grab them at Collette’s web store but hurry as they won’t last long.

Check here to find out the nine other locations where Chad Muska will distribute the remaining 324 pairs.

Nike Air Max 1 Baroque Brown “West”

The Nike Sportswear East vs. West run of releases continues with these Air Max 1s, which represent the West with a natural approach. Right away you can tell these may be from the same design pack as the Varsity Red/Black-White, but the colors sure weren’t pulled from the same palette.

Baroque Brown suede is used for the upper majority on these, contrasting the Urban Haze surrounding it. The traditional white midsole is present also, working against the dark upper and black liner. Black mesh is also used on the tongue, matching the suede Swoosh. Durasheen is used in olive green around the ankle area, adding a military look.

Wale x 9th Wonder

Grammy Award-winning Hip Hop Producer 9th Wonder releases Beast – a new track by Wale that did not make the final cut of his debut album Attention Deficit. However, since the beat and lyrics are equally on point, this song is definitely worth checking out. Enjoy! Attention Deficit is out now!

Under Crown... these is nice

As a brand with roots in sports lifestyle, UNDRCRWN’s rich palette of products have easily made their way from the courts to the street – products which have, over time, become coveted in fashion and basketball culture. In Winter 2010 they introduce a brand new men’s capsule-collection titled “D.O.C.” The Apparel Range, conceived by Dustin Canalin (UNDRCRWN Creative Director), focusing mainly on contemporary “Cut & Sew” pieces. In addition, there is a co-branded footwear collaboration with Rockport.

To kick-off the capsule, we’re releasing the limited edition “D.O.C x Rockport Delta Boot.” Truly for the aspirational at heart, the shoe features an array of luxe materials. The dark grey Melton wool & black suede upper is reminiscent of fabrics used on premium varsity jackets while the black and white gingham lining counter-balances the darkness of the shoe. Giving it the sense of luxury found in tailored suits and handcrafted luggage, pinstripes were also added to the upper. A butter soft leather heel and embossed leather patches on the tongue further compliment the refined aesthetic. To lighten up the design, a pop of color was incorporated through the use of pink-waxed laces. Hand sewn elements and purple stitching found on the heel mimic the construction of apparel and provides the perfect finishing touch to tie it all together.

Applying a timeless design to the Rockport silhouette results in a clean, luxurious and fashionable boot. With only 100 pairs available globally, the Fall/Winter 2010 “D.O.C x Rockport” collaboration will start retailing on Friday November 27th. The shoe will also be available for purchase at UNDRCRWN.com in limited quantities.
